In our lifetime, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer. It is inevitable that we will all be effected by cancer in our lives.  I have been a part of the Swim Across America Community since my freshman year of college, just a few months after my dad's cancer diagnosis.  After a 6 year battle and a life well lived, he passed away.  I am raising money and participating in SAA in memory of Mark Kavanaugh.  Mark was active in the swimming community for as long as his children were, even participating in Swim Across America's Rhode Island Chapter in 2019.
