In our lifetime, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer - unfortunately, we lost one of our own Denver colleagues last April after a lengthy and hard-fought battle with cancer. Brant Schelhaas will be deeply missed, but not forgotten.
We joined the Swim Across America (SAA) community as a team so that, together, we can honor Brant and his family's fight and improve the stats. We are challenging ourselves by swimming, volunteering, or promoting the second annual Swim Across America-Denver Open Water Swim, and raising as much money to fight cancer as we can. Please support us in "Making Waves to Fight Cancer", by registering to join our "team" as a swimmer or volunteer on August 23rd, or sponsoring our Worldpay from FIS Colorado team and making a monetary gift - you can do it "in honor of" Brant, or someone special that has also fought w/ cancer. Worldpay will also match your donation if you elect, and the money you give will go towards cancer research, prevention and treatment, and will make an impact in the fight to find a cure - our beneficiary is Children's Hospital Colorado's Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders.
Children's Hospital Colorado services not only patients from Colorado, but many of the surrounding states. It's Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders is a top-10 pediatric cancer center in the U.S.. Support for this swim and the funds raised helps find cures not only for their patients, but for patients around the country.
Swim Across America has been holding similar events in over 20 other cities across the U.S. for 33 years, raising more than $85 million. This is Denver's third year after raising more than $250,000 in it's 2nd year - Team Worldpay-Colorado contributed almost $14K of that! Let's come together to blow that number out of the water in 2020!
Thank you for your generosity and may it lead to a cancer-free world!
