2024 Denver Open Water Swim

Hunters Hill Hawks Slip 'N' Slide Against Cancer

The Hawks are "Making Waves to Fight Cancer" with Swim Across America. Everyone's life has been impacted by cancer which is why we're dedicating a night in the park and our season to having FUN and using swimming to help and raise money for cancer research, prevention and treatment.

WHAT: The Hawks are landing at the Hunters Hill Park to kick off fundraising during the season and “slide” towards the goal of raising more money than last year in Making Waves in the fight against Cancer. In our lifetime, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer. Unfortunately, 47 children are diagnosed every day, and only 4% of NIH funding is allocated to childhood cancer research.

We are again joining the SAA community so that, together, we can change that and help find a cure through our love for the water.

Swim Across America is a National non-profit that has raised over $115 million for cancer research & clinical trials through open water swims, pool swims & clinics throughout the USA! Swim Across America’s funding of clinical trials for patients helped contribute to four FDA approved life-saving immunotherapy cancer treatments: Yervoy, Opdivo, Tecentriq and Keytruda.

All funds raised stay in Colorado and will benefit pediatric cancer research & clinical trials at Children's Hospital Colorado's Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders.  Swim Across America-Denver has raised over $1.1 million locally since inception in 2018.

We will have a fun evening Slippin' and Slidin' down the Hunters Hill Park hill, “Making Waves to Fight Cancer”! Please join us and show Hawks spirit in order to help others.

The event is closed to Hunters Hill Hawks swimmers and family only.

WHEN: Thursday, June 13th , 2024 from 4:00 – 5:30 PM

WHERE: Hunters Hill Park on top of the hill: 7275 S. Xanthia St., Centennial, CO 80112

HOW TO JOIN: Click the "Join Team" button on the right of this page, sign up as a "SAA My Way" virtual participant, and get your own fundraising page to send out to your friends and family.

FUNDRAISING:  Although not required, we encourage each team member to try to raise at least $100 - send your own fundraising page link or this team page link to 10 people and you will be surprised how easy it is. Many will raise more but if everyone raises $100, our season could raise thousands to support cancer research, prevention and treatment. Fundraising will remain open until the end of the season so that we can reach our team goal and make a difference as a team! See some of the incentives below available to thank individuals for their efforts.

Donations can be made by clicking the "Donate Now" button on the right of this page, or the “Donate Now” button on individual swimmer fundraising pages. Checks are also welcomed by bringing to the event or sending a check to: Swim Across America - Denver, PO Box 370076 Denver, CO 80237. Swimmers’ names should be added to the memo line if the donation is to support a specific registered swimmer.
