Julie's Story
I'm swimming in honor of my late father, R.L. Long, who fought a vicious battle with acute myeloid leukemia. We said goodbye to him on May 19, 2021.
I work as a research administrator in the Oncology Clinical Trial Support Unit at the Rogel Cancer Center. Our mission is to provide support to the oncologists researching new treatments for cancer. I am truly proud of the work we do - the results can sometimes be life-saving.
But since losing my father, I am desperate to do more. It's my solemn wish that no other family experience that kind of pain and loss.
I joined the Swim Across America community so that, together, we can help make that wish a reality. If you are able, please support me, or my team, Team Rogel, by making a gift. The researchers we are funding are in our community and are the next generation of cancer pioneers.
You can make a credit card donation here, or send a check to Swim Across America, 11600 N. Community House Rd., Suite 100, Charlotte, NC 28277. Check should be made out to Swim Across America but please include a note mentioning my name as the swimmer you are supporting!
Thank you for helping me #MakeWavesToFightCancer.
