Welcome to My Personal Page
This year, 2022, I will once again be “Making Waves in the Fight Against Cancer” by swimming in multiple open water swims. On April 9th, I will be swimming with my sister, Heidi, in the inaugural Florida Keys Open Water Swim in Islamorada. Islamorada is located between the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico. On July 30th I will also swim in the Long Island Sound Open Water Swim. These swims mean a lot to me as the money I raise will benefit cancer research, prevention and treatment around the country.
I will be dedicating my swims in honor of two of my colleagues at Bloomfield High School. Two of the nicest Karen’s you will ever know.
Karen Centinaro is currently fighting her own battle against stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Karen is determined to beat this cancer. She is staying strong and positive and has continued to work during her treatment. She absolutely amazes me every day with her strength. Please pray for Karen that each new day brings her closer to a full and speedy recovery. You got this Karen!
Karen Potucek is another co-worker who has fought cancer multiple times. In 2012 she was diagnosed with breast cancer and in 2014 she was diagnosed with Stage 3 uterine, ovarian and fallopian tube cancer. Karen received radiation and 6 rounds of chemo and on June 10, 2022 she will be a seven-year survivor. Karen, your strength and bravery are amazing!
I will also be swimming in memory of my mother. My mom died from breast cancer in 2006. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about my mom and wish I could speak to her on the phone. Everyone who knew her loved her. Miss you mom!
Please support my swims by making a donation to my personal fundraising page, which you can visit by clicking the link below. Every bit helps and makes a difference in the fight to find a cure.
Thank you very much for your support as I "Make Waves to Fight Cancer."
