Welcome to Mindy's Personal Page
Did you know that every 15 minutes, 50 Americans are diagnosed with cancer? This is a sobering reality. But, the good news is that every year millions of Americans are beating cancer through advancements in treatments. Swim Across America has raised more than $100 million for its network of doctors and researchers who are the pioneers developing new cures and treatments to this dreaded disease.
This year I will once again be swimming in memory of my mother, Joan Warmbrand, who lost her battle to breast cancer in 2006. She was the best and is missed by so many friends and family every day. I am also swimming for all who have lost their battle, those currently fighting the fight of their lives and for all the survivors of ugly cancer.
On April 20th, I will be swimming 2 miles in Islamorada in the Florida Keys. Islamorada is positioned between the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico. Proceeds from SAA - Florida Keys will support early stage cancer research at Miami Cancer Institute.
On July 27th I will be swimming 5K (3.1 miles) in the Long Island Sound. Proceeds from SAA - Long Island Sound will support immunotherapy research at the Swim Across America Laboratory, the research laboratories of Dr. Luis Diaz and the MSK Kids Department of Pediatrics at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, immunotherapy research and clinical trials at the Swim Across America Laboratory at Weill Cornell Cancer Center, pediatric oncology research at Morgan Columbia University Medical Center and patient services with Cancer Support Team.
Please consider donating to my swims. Your contribution, whatever the amount, will help in finding a cure. Thank you for supporting me as I "Make Waves To Fight Cancer."
