Guess What? I’ve decided to keep swimming in Swim Across America Events!
Why?
I’m not doing it because I’m a fantastic swimmer looking to break world records. In fact, I’m lucky enough to finish! I’m not swimming because of how often I’m mistaken for a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model, and I’m certainly not swimming for fame or fortune.
Why am I deciding to swim in an ocean, which is beautiful, but I’ve never been a huge fan of sea life, just to get from point A to point B?
The obvious answer, as you know, is Grace. I continue to swim because Grace Bunke cannot. I want to use my body to its fullest potential because she, and many others, cannot be here on this side of Heaven. Being surrounded by water in a place that brought Grace peace and happiness is an invaluable honor.
It’s not about swimming. The actual swim is an added bonus! This Swim Across America event is a cherished experience where lifelong relationships have been and continue to be formed, where my spirit is continuously fulfilled, and money is raised to help those fighting the same battle as my dear friend did valiantly.
This swim means something. This swim connects me to something greater than myself and exposes me to many of life’s countless lessons. In return, I continue to swim because of Grace. With Grace. For Grace. Swimming is effortless compared to fighting cancer.
Thank you so much!
