Today I am headed to Long Island Sound to do a buoy to buoy swim with my daughter Kristine.
Our Eleven Year Celebration Swim for Team Kicking Cancer for Karen, Chris & Friends will be different as a result of the Covid Pandemic.
No big gatherings allowed. So we were requested to do a personal challenge this year. Kristine and I will swim at Sherwood Island State Park with Karen walking 5 miles and cheering us on. Caroline will do a mini tri in Boston. We look forward to being back together and swimming as a team next year.
To date, our team has raised close to $250,000.
Thank you for all you have done - from myself, Karen, Kristine & Caroline. I am not sure we knew the first year how Swim Across America would become such an important part of our lives.
This year we swim in memory of our friend Patricia Prongay - who at 61 just this past week lost her courageous battle with cancer leaving her husband and 14 year old twins.
We are so very grateful and celebrate our friends Ann, AnnBeth, Louise, Jenn, Joyce and Tom who show amazing strength and admirable courage! And JP Kealy - you continue to inspire us! And celebrate my brother in law Scott who has hurdled and beat cancer. And Karen now TEN years now post cancer.
We have lost too many to cancer - dear Charlotte; who faced cancer with the biggest smile and optimism, Mike, my childhood friend Toms' younger brother who passed away after a five-year battle with his cancer, my brother Chris, mother-in-law Bernice, friend Toni and Coach Joan. Dolores daughter, Laurie's mom Edie, Karen's mom Penny, Pete's father Eric and Coach Kelly.
We have all been touched by cancer in our lives. It is a horrible disease that with your help we can fund research to find better treatment options, prevention and a cure. Thvank you for donating whatever you can. http://www.swimacrossamerica.org/goto/kickingcancer
Thank you for your support.
