Welcome to Peter's Personal Page
I am sure, that like me, many of you have lost family or friends to cancer over the last year or have family or friends who are currently battling cancer, which means the battle is not over for me to raise funds to continue to search for a cure. I am swimming three miles for my thirteenth consecutive year in their memory and honor on Saturday, June 24th for Swim Across America - Fairfield County. My daughter Kellen will be joining me on Team Julian for her twelfth-year swimming in this event.
I am swimming this year in memory of my former neighbor and high school friend Vicki Lewis Nolan who passed away in February after a hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer, and my Gettysburg College classmate Leslie Schindel Freeland who passed away in April, 2022 after her breast cancer, which she had beat, came back and spread to other organs and took her life. These friends, and others like Hank and Shân, have left us with only fond memories of their beautiful, but cancer-shortened lives. Others friends, like Matt and Mark, continue their own battles with cancer.
This swim is for the benefit of the Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy in Stamford, CT which funds some of the world's best cancer researchers and scientists around the country. They are making great progress in their research and their results are what is helping to keep others alive today.
I am leading Team Julian once again to continue the legacy of Julian Fraser, a wonderful young man and a close family friend who lost his battle with osteosarcoma in 2017 at age 20. Julian's legacy is being preserved through this team of dedicated friends, swimmers, and fundraisers, and as long as I am able, I will swim and raise money in Julian's memory, and for our family and friends who are fighting the battle, or who have lost the battle with cancer.
Would you please join me in supporting and honoring our friends as we make waves to fight cancer?
In our lifetime, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer. I joined the Swim Across America community so that, together, we can change that. I am challenging myself by swimming three miles in the Fairfield County Open Water Swim and raising as much money to fight cancer as I can. Please support me by sponsoring my swim and making a gift. The money you give will go towards cancer research, prevention and treatment and will make an impact in the fight to find a cure.
You can make a credit card donation in the link on this page, or you can send a check payable to Swim Across America, PO Box 681, Riverside, CT 06878.
Thank you for your generosity and may it help lead to a cancer-free world!
