Round 13, 1.5 Mile Swim, June 29
It has been an honor to be a “WaveMaker” each year, helping to raise more than $18,000 of the $100+ million Swim Across America has generated since inception. The funds raised help provide grants so doctors can conduct innovative clinical trials and research that can lead to breakthroughs in cancer detection and treatment.
It is a moving experience to listen to survivors share their stories, hear a teen in remission sing the National Anthem before we enter the water, and to swim alongside Olympians such as Craig Beardsley. My colleague PJ Papale and his wife Patty introduced me to this event in 2012. We now have additional team members contributing as well (Scott Pearson & Alex Kang). A big Thank You to all those who have donated to support me in this worthy cause! I swim in memory of Gertie Bax, Ed Lozada, Gina Rochelle Calabro, in honor of Kyle Smith, Kate Thorpe, Trish Van Buskirk, Morgan Floyd, Joanne Golino and to help make a positive impact in this fight.
In our lifetime, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer. I joined the SAA community so that, together, we can change that. I am challenging myself by swimming in the Greenwich - Stamford Open Water Swim and raising as much money as I can to fight cancer. Please support me by sponsoring my swim and making a gift. The money you give will go towards cancer research, prevention and treatment and will make an impact in the fight to find a cure. Thank you for your generosity and may it lead to a cancer-free world!
