Swim Across America has been a huge part of my whole family's life since I was diagnosed with leukemia in 2012. With my mom as the co-chair of the event, we know where every dollar is going and are so happy to be able to support the ground breaking research being done at Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy (ACGT), SAA - Fairfield County's beneficiary.
When I faced a relapse last year, we were in awe of the improvements in cancer treatment that has occurred in the past 5 years, all thanks to organizations like ACGT that are funding researchers creating these innovative therapies.
To eliminate all traces of cancer in me, I was treated with immunotherapy that had only been approved that same month (who remembers my immunotherapy backpack that I wore all of last May?) I was so lucky to then receive a successful stem-cell transplant on June 29th of last year and to be able to return to a normal life just over a year later. We need this to be the result of all cancer diagnoses.
I will be volunteering this Saturday to celebrate survivorship, cheer on current patients, and remember those who we have lost to this awful disease. Please help me make waves against cancer to make sure that no family has to go through hearing "you have cancer" again.
We will never stop fighting. You can make a donation here, or send a check to Swim Across America, c/o Jacque Lang, 14 Little Ridge Road, Ridgefield, CT 06877
Thank you so much for your support ♥
