Covid 19 stopped the world in its tracks. Like Cancer, it marches forward until we develop the vaccine or find a cure.
This is my ELEVENTH year participating in Swim Across America on our Team Kicking Cancer for Karen, Chris & Friends. We cannot gather for our open water swim but have been asked to create a personal challenge this year. This year I'm doing a mini triathlon in Boston. Clearly not the same for any one of us, but we want to keep the fundraising effort alive to support the research that Swim Across America has backed and donated to.
I swim in honor and celebration of my best friend, my mom who bravely battled and fought breast cancer. My mom is the strongest and most generous person I know. We celebrate 10 years of her being cancer free! I also swim in memory of my Uncle Chris, the best dad to my cousins, friend, mentor, and adventurer who lost his life to brain cancer, Mrs. Taverna, the kindest and most fun-loving ray of sunshine who faced cancer with optimism, Coach Joan, my swim coach when I was young who helped me achieve a love and career for the sport, and many other people who lost their lives to this horrible disease.
To date, YOU - my friends, family, colleagues, and neighbors have helped our team raise close to $250,000 over the past 11 years. We are excited to continue making a difference in people’s lives. Thank you for all you have done - from myself, my mom, my dad, and my sister, Kristine. We have all been touched by cancer in our lives. It is a horrible disease that with your help we can fund research to find better treatment options, prevention and a cure. We must fund the research to lower the numbers.
If you are interested in donating any amount, my personal link is here: http://www.swimacrossamerica.org/goto/carolineob
The researchers we are funding are the next generation of cancer pioneers. Without Swim Across America early stage funding, they are not able to conduct trials that can lead to breakthroughs that can save lives.
Thank you for your support! Thank you for helping make an impact in the fight to find a cure! ~ Caroline
In our lifetime, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer. I joined the SAA community so that, together, we can change that. I am challenging myself by swimming in the Greoenwich-Stamford Open Water Swim and raising as much money to fight cancer as I can. Please support me by sponsoring my swim and making a gift. The money you give will go towards cancer research, prevention and treatment and will make an impact in the fight to find a cure. Thank you for your generosity and may it lead to a cancer-free world!
