2024 Fairfield County Open Water Swim

Our Leader - Julian Fraser

TEAM JULIAN

In 2017 we lost our young friend Julian Fraser after he fought a tough 11-month battle with osteosarcoma, a rare form of cancer. Julian was an All-American swimmer and water polo player at Greenwich High School and a standout player on the Santa Clara University Water Polo Team when he was diagnosed with osteosarcoma at age 19.  He was loved by all.  Julian was only 20 years old when he died.

Unfortunately, Julian’s story is not uncommon. We hear similar stories year-after-year. Many of our friends and loved ones have heard their doctor say those three words, “you have cancer”. It’s at that moment, one that you never expected, that you can only hope that there is a treatment or cure to make you better.

That’s why Team Julian came together, not only to honor our friends like Julian, but to continue to support the cause by raising money to fund the valuable research that is being done today to help save the rest of us who are diagnosed with cancer. Swim Across America - Fairfield County is supporting the Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy (ACGT), an organization who funds dedicated cancer researchers and scientists around the country who are making great strides to help save us.

This year the team is coming back to Cummings Point Beach in Stamford, CT swimming for the cause. We encourage you to come out and swim with Team Julian on Saturday, June 24th. Pick your own distance of .5 miles, 1.5 miles or 3 miles and raise some money for a this great cause.

Remember, one out of two men and one out of three women will be diagnosed with cancer. Help us change that.

You can make a credit card donation by clicking on one of the members of our team below, or send a check payable to Swim Across America, PO Box 681, Riverside, CT 06878 and let them know who you are supporting.  Thank you.
