Welcome to the Compassion Team Home page
Over thirty years ago, Swim Across America was established with the noble objective of channeling the proceeds from charity swim teams towards funding cancer research. Among the beneficiaries of SAA's support is Dr. John de Groot, M.D., a dedicated Neuro-Oncology professor at MD Anderson Cancer Center and an avid swimmer. Dr. de Groot emphasizes the critical need for support in researching brain cancer, a cause often overlooked in terms of awareness and funding.
Motivated by this compelling mission and my personal love for swimming, I have enthusiastically joined the Swim Across America organization. I've initiated a team named 'Compassion.' On October 14, 2023, as part of the Fifth-Year event of SAA in our Houston hometown, I will partake in a 1-mile open water swim at Lake Longhorn at 8:AM Saturday Oct 14,2023.
I invite you to join me in this endeavor by becoming a member of the swim team or contributing as a donor. I've chosen to align with Swim Across America because I wholeheartedly believe in their mission, aiming to bring hope to more families. If you're able, kindly lend your support to the Compassion Team by making a donation, assisting us in reaching our fundraising goal. Together, let's make a meaningful impact in the fight against cancer.
I wish to dedicate the swim event at Longhorn Lake to my three grandchildren.
Thank you for your generosity and may it lead to a cancer-free world!
