Friends & Family -
Once again I will be participating in Swim Across America's Long Island Sound Open Water Swim to raise money to fund cancer research by swimming across LI sound from Glen Cove LI to Larchmont NY.
In year's past, our team has taken its name in memory of a loved one or friend whose life was cut short by cancer, or in honor of one who is currently fighting for their life. Our hope is that one year we will not have a name.
While this will not be the year, we've chosen to change tack and honor all the wins - the folks who are beating this disease with amazing new treatments made possible by the years of contributions to which SAA has been dedicated. In particular, we swim to honor our friend and fellow swimmer Bruce whose new immunotherapy treatment has shown miraculous success.
Swim Across America has been working to support cancer research, treatment, and prevention for more than 25 years. In that time SAA has raised millions for Sloan Kettering and the Columbia Children's Hospital, and made a real impact in the fight to find a cure.
Since our effort began in Westchester, the landmark discoveries and treatments developed have been truly game-changing. Memorial Sloan Kettering was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Medicine for the development of Immunotherapy. While amazing, think of this - the concept of using the immune system (Immunotherapy) to treat cancer did not qualify for grant money and only proceeded to the development stage with funding from SAA and specifically donations from you.
Please support me by sponsoring my swim and making a gift. The money you give will go towards cancer research, prevention, treatment and will make an impact in the fight to find a cure. Thank you for your generosity and may it lead to a cancer-free world!
