Welcome to the Personal Page of Tim Irwin
Hi All,
Once again I am swimming in memory of my sister Sue, and sadly this year I am also swimming in memory of my friend Colm Kelly. Sue is my sister who fought a courageous battle with stage 4 brain cancer and lost her fight in August of 2022. She was one of the original team members when we decided to put together Team Irwin. Glioblastoma is unfortunately a disease in which there has been no cure to date. There are many trials out there and I pray that we find a cure to give other families a glimmer of hope.
Colm lost his courageous battle against throat cancer on January 5th 2024 with me by his side. Colm and I go back 30 years when he first came over to the United States from Ireland. We both worked together at the American Yacht Club and even after we both left to pursue our careers we remained friends ever since. He was a great friend to many that knew him.
Team Irwin is in their 11th year of Swimming to fight Cancer. I am challenging myself by swimming in the Long Island Sound Swim, which is about 1.2 miles so that I can raise as much money to fight cancer.
Unfortunately, we all know someone who has been impacted by cancer so it is so important that we find a cure ASAP. Please support me by sponsoring my swim and making a gift. The money you give will go towards cancer research, prevention and treatment and will make an impact in the fight to find a cure. Thank you for your generosity and may it lead to a cancer-free world!
You can make a credit card donation here, or send a check directly to me or to Swim Across America.
Lastly, if you would like to join Team Irwin as a swimmer, a land volunteer or even a kayaker feel free to join us.
Thank You for all your support,
Tim Irwin (Captain, Team Irwin)
