Yup....I am now 51 and STILL doing this swim! I can honestly now say I have spent half my life swimming to raise funding for this cause. I do this because I am hoping I can continue to a play a role in helping those afflicted with cancer. Each year, as I am swimming across the sound, I can see the sun rising and the thought crosses my mind as I battle the waves and chop, "what was I thinking swimming this far across the sound?", but then I remember that I have a reason. This swim has a purpose. As I am swimming, I think about those I have lost, that are not with me anymore who were taken from me because of cancer. This is what keeps me going. This is what keeps me coming back. Please help by donating to this year's swim!
In our lifetime, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer. I joined the SAA community so that, together, we can change that. I am challenging myself by swimming in the Long Island Sound Open Water Swim and raising as much money to fight cancer as I can. Please support me by sponsoring my swim and making a gift. The money you give will go towards cancer research, prevention and treatment and will make an impact in the fight to find a cure. Thank you for your generosity and may it lead to a cancer-free world!
