Why I'm Swimming
In our lifetime, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer. Each and every one of these people is a son or daughter, brother or sister, parent, grandparent or just a friend to others in their life. They have formed relationships with others, and their cancer diagnosis affects the lives of each and every person this cancer patient has interacted with in their life.
Cancer has had a direct impact on my life as well. I have lost multiple family members and other loved ones to cancer. Losing people you care about changes your perspective on life and the importance of living it to its fullest. As such, I want to do my part to raise money and ensure that others can live their life to its fullest. I joined the SAA community in 2016, doing my first two swims while at Camp Dudley, before participating in 2018 and 2019 in the Long Island Sound. In 2020, while in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, I did a charity Twitch stream to stay active in the community. In 2021, I pushed myself and swam the 5k swim by myself, while the rest of Team BeachBum tackled the 2k. It was a powerful experience I will never forget. Last summer I decided to swim alongside family and friends on Team BeachBum and did the 2k swim. This summer, as a washed up college graduate, I'm going to do the 2k swim along with my parents and other loved ones! It will be a very fun (and hopefully not too cold) experience and I'm excited to raise more money for SAA!
I hope you will consider supporting either me or Team BeachBum by sponsoring my swim and making a donation. The money you give will go towards cancer research, prevention and treatment and it will make an impact in the fight to find a cure. Thank you for your generosity and may it lead to a cancer-free world!
