I think it is important to give you all a better understanding of why I am swimming for this great cause. Like most people, my family has not only been touched by cancer, but punched in the face by it. In 2012, my father James (who I'm swimming in memory of) passed away after his own battle with melanoma (a type of skin cancer). This is a death that nobody should have to die, or in the case of any family, have to watch helplessly. I am sure the same can be said for the many other types of cancer out there. There is a lot of work to be done to discover treatments and cures. I'm not a scientist or a doctor. I'm a water polo player, coach and swimmer. I'll leave the research for those that do it best, and I'll do what I do best while raising money so that we might be able give HOPE for those individuals and families that will soon be in a struggle for their lives.
Please support my swim with a donation of any amount. I will be swimming in memory of my father, 5 kilometers in the open water of the Long Island Sound out of Larchmont, NY on July 27th, 2019.
Thank you all in advance. I truly appreciate your support.
