On November 12th 2022, Our Dad, Brian Payne passed away after a two year battle with cancer. We have grown up participating in Swim Across America, swimming beside our dad, and are now proud to swim in his honor. Most kids grow up thinking their dad was a superhero, but ours actually was. While cliche, our Dad truly is the best man we’ve ever known. He’s a man of few words, but those who are lucky enough to have known him could all say this about him; he’s an amazing husband and father, a kick ass firefighter, and lastly a hockey fanatic. 

Words will never be able to explain how lucky we are to have him as our Dad. Our Dad put up an incredible fight, so let us not remember him when he was sick but rather surrounded by friends and family, cracking jokes, and drinking a bud heavy. And let us not be saddened about the life milestones he will not be here for because the thought of those should never outweigh the love we feel when thinking about all the memories we have shared, and all the good Brian brought into this world. Cancer took our Dad away to soon and we fight to live in a world with a cure. We swim in honor of all of those who have also lost a parent, spouse, sibling, or friend to cancer.
