Nearly 1 out of 3 people in the US are diagnosed with cancer, but for me it came down to just one. Earlier this June, my dad went to the hospital complaining of persistent and severe headaches, but he never anticipated what was to come next. Since then, we learned that he has a significant mass in his head, in fact, within a week of that hospital visit, he was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma.
You never think it’s going to happen to you or happen to someone you love until it does. I’m challenging myself to swim in the Long Island Sound Open Water Swim in honor of my dad because I want to INSPIRE him to fight as hard as he can! I also want to show him the network of SUPPORT and LOVE that’s available for everyone out there fighting cancer.
Unfortunately, cancer has and will touch the lives of most people in our country, which is why my goal is to raise as much money to fight it as I can. Please support me by sponsoring my swim and donating a gift. Any and all donations are a step in the right direction! The money you give will go towards cancer research, prevention and treatment and will make an impact in the fight to find a cure. Thank you for your generosity and may it lead to a cancer-free world!
You can make a credit card donation here, or send a check to Swim Across America, PO Box 217, Larchmont, NY 10538.
Checks should be made out to Swim Across America but please include a note mentioning my name as the swimmer you are supporting!
