This year marks the 20th and 5th anniversary of my mom and dad passing after painful battles with pancreatic cancer and bladder cancer spread to the bones respectively. Other family have battled breast, colon and other cancers. Friends and loved ones have had their own battles or lost children or parents too soon. There are no words I can pen on this page that fully capture that struggle and loss.
Cancer doesn't just take lives, it takes away time and quality from families, friends, and communities. It brings uncertainty, long and painful days and nights, it upends families and lives.
I chose to swim on July 25th for the The Long Island Sound Swim, now in its 28th year, which continues to be the largest of all the SAA events. Their support and that of SAA has funded grants that advance how we can detect and fight cancer and support patients.

MSK was one of the places that treated my dad and their approach and support for my dad and our family was memorable.
Please support me by sponsoring my swim and making a gift. The money you give will go towards cancer research, prevention and treatment and will make an impact in the fight to find a cure. Thank you for your generosity and may it lead to a cancer-free world! Please make a donation if you can to me or one of the other teams/individuals here if you can, volunteer for the event, and/or spread the word.
You can make a credit card donation here, or send a check to Swim Across America, PO Box 217, Larchmont, NY 10538.
Checks should be made out to Swim Across America but please include a note mentioning my name as the swimmer you are supporting!
