Swimming for Gina!
Founded in 1987, Swim Across America has hosted charity swims with one goal: to raise money for innovative cancer research that would lead to breakthrough treatments and therapies. The Since then, Swim Across America has raised over $100M to fund the next generation of pioneers in oncology and cancer-support care.
Gina Wente was my strong, smart and classy cousin. She was only a year older than me, so growing up we spent a lot of time together and I always got her hand-me-downs. Whether it was Christmas Eve parties, helping me not go bankrupt in Monopoly, or visits to NC to se our grandparents, we always had lots of fun together. As we grew up and had girls of our own we shared hand-me-downs once again and our girls started to get to know each other.
On February 26th Gina lost her battle with inflammatory breast cancer. I am swimming in her memory.
I so wish we would have had more time together with our girls and watching them create all the memories like we had. I’ll keep bringing Mck all the clothes and make sure Charlotte takes her on lots more jeep rides. David will get all the clothes now too and I’m sure him and baby J will get into all the mischief.
I joined Swim Across America because I believe in their mission and want to help give more families hope. If you are able, please support me by making a donation to help me reach my fundraising goal.
Thank you for helping me #MakeWavesToFightCancer.
