Team 11 North swims in honor of our beloved grandmother and friend, Kathleen Carello, who passed away in March of 2014 at the age of 71 from liver cancer. Kathy came to America in 1961 from Belfast, Ireland and worked at Quaker Ridge Golf Club for over 35 years. She had five children and ten grandchildren who loved her dearly, as well as countless others in the community whose lives she impacted. She exemplified selflessness and compassion in every aspect of her life. "11 North" stands for the home where she lived almost all of her life in New Rochelle, which was always a warm, welcoming place for friends and family.
This past June, we unfortunately lost our beloved grandfather, Bruce Mitcheltree, from renal cancer. Bruce was generous to all who met him, especially our family. He fought his battle hard and will be missed dearly. This year and in the years to follow, Team 11 North will be swimming to honor both him and my grandmother.
We swim to keep both his and her memories of love and strength alive, along with the memories of our late grandfathers, John Carello and Tom Freeman, as well as the memories of the dearest people to our teammates and supporters, including Kathryn Liptack, James Kearney, Mary Bishop, Amy Nessel, Tom Murray, Andrea Marvin, Eve Kessler, Patricia DeVerna, Margaret Conroy, Megan Treganowan, Rudolph Mauriello, Carmine Negro, Karen Negro, Paolo DeVivo, Diego Herrera, and Joan Godfrey, and to help find a cure for others battling cancer.
We appreciate any and every donation, as even a little can go a long way.
