Swimming for Gladys Zodda
My mother Gladys Zodda supported my swimming career when I was growing up. She drove me to countless practices and meets near and far. I was able to swim for the Ridgewood YMCA all winter and keep working with my talented summer coach, Don, which moved me to a new level of skill. The many miles she drove showed her love and support.
When she lived with me on island she joined the Whaletts at the community pool. The senior ladies enjoyed doing their exercises while keeping fit and having fun. Not much of a deep water participant Gladys hung out in the shallowed and bravely participated on a regular basis. All the gals were great friends doing lunch and other island activities often. This so enriched Gladys' life and helped her reach beyond the ages of 90. As I swim my mile this my 74th year I will remember fondly and many Gladys stories that this friendship and sport made possible. She was unique character and enjoyed 10 years on the island.
If you can make a donation to my effort know my appreciation is sincere. I will make a thousand dollar donation of my own and thus make WAVE MAKER status.
My son's family is part of the Swim Across America Nantucket Family as both swimmers and sponsors. My husband John Millar has often been a vital behind the scene volunteer. I am so proud of them all and look forward to that special July 2024 event. Over the many years the donations my family and friends have made have been great
My thanks on so much. All funds no matter how small will assist in the work of fighting cancer and helping islanders effected by this disease. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPOR!!!!!
