Welcome to My Personal Page
Well this year Nantucket Swim Across America has gotten personal. As you all know the annual Swim supports cancer and palliative care on Nantucket. I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in 2020. So far, it is in an early stage and I have a great group of practioners at Mass General who are monitoring me. I am healthy and still running around like a teenager, okay not quite that fast, but still moving forward. This diagnosis has brought home to me that cancer is not going away and is a challenge for every family. I now share the unsettling state that other cancer patients face on a daily basis. Our Swim goes a long way to let cancer patients know that they are not alone and we as a community are here to support them.
The success of this Swim depends not on those of us getting into the water but on the genorsity of folks like you. It is hard to ask friends and family for money but we have to all face our fears so here is my request. Give what you can and any amount is appreciated. Nationally, Swim Across America is saving lives by supporting innovative research into cancer cures at local health care and medical centers. Swim Across America unites communities in a cause to help others. A great message in our times! So do what you can and make a donation to this great community event.
I plan on swimming the four mile swim in July. The last time we did this in 2019 it was really tough. Thanks for all of your past support. Together we will face this challenge.
You can make a credit card contribution with the link below, or send a check made out to Swim Across America to either Jill Roethke, 14 Bluebird Lane, Nantucket MA 02554 or me at 50 N. Liberty Street Nantucket, MA 02554. Thanks for your generosity. Let’s do this!
