When I tell people that I work as an oncology nurse practitioner taking care of cancer patients on Nantucket I frequently get a response that sounds like “it must be really hard”. My usual answer is “it’s a great fit”. I get to connect with people in the most vulnerable time of their lives and make the most amazing heart connections. I get to wear my science  “hat” and provide treatment as well as symptom support.  I get to work with the most amazing colleagues whose caring abilities extend beyond your imagination.
