I have loved swimming for my whole life. There were only a few times when I didn’t want to jump I— mainly those 5am practices in the dead of Vermont winter. I love swimming and playing in water, pools, oceans, lakes, wherever I can make a splash. I’m honored to share my love of swimming with Swim with Grace. Nothing made me more excited or happy last summer than arriving at a second lesson with a very excited swimmer eager to get back in the water for more. Watching my swimmers grow and become stronger and more confident in the water and in themselves was incredible and too irresistible not to do all over again.
This summer in addition to teaching, I’ll also be training. I will be swimming the Swim Across America one mile race on August 24th! Swim Across America began as a relay swim from Nantucket to Hyannis and has evolved to 20 open water swims and dozens of pool swims around the country. For my second year on island, I’m hoping to raise $2,000 for SAA and for cancer care on Nantucket.
With every dollar raised from the swim, SAA is helping to change the game of cancer care on Nantucket. Proceeds directly support the Nantucket Cottage Hospital (NCH) and the Palliative and Supportive Care of Nantucket (PASCON) oncology efforts to fund vital services for local and visiting cancer patients, minimizing their need to travel for appointments, testing, and treatment. Our support allows NCH oncology programs to keep more Nantucket residents on-island for their cancer care, providing them a compassionate and caring environment. We help bring world-class oncologists to the island, allowing our patients to receive treatments at home. Through PASCON, our patients and families receive important physical, emotional and spiritual care free of charge.
Please support me by sponsoring my swim and making a gift and helping me get to my $2,000 goal!
