On August 3th, 2019, I am swimming my 5th open water 10k swim for Swim Across America "Sound to Cove Swim".
The funds we raise support immunotherapy research at the Swim Across America Laboratory at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, lung cancer clinical trials at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, pediatric brain cancer research at the Feinstein Institute of North Shore and pediatric oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Children's Cancer Hospital.
Cancer continues to plague my family. This past year was no different. I have lost so many female relatives to cancer well before their time: Angela S. at 36, Carol B. at 55, Angela M. at 66, Aunt Viola and Grandmother Lucia both before 70. I am lucky to be healthy and will do everything I can to stay that way.

This year I swim in memory of my brilliant, vibrant, and beautiful cousin Angela Marcantonio who lived her life to the fullest until losing her six year battle with cancer on November 13, 2018. Accomplished author, professor, wife, mother... Angela reconnected me with my extended Italian family and ancestry. We will miss you and never forget the many fond memories of family vacations in Sperlonga.
