Dear Friends, Family, and Corporate Sponsors of my previous Swim Across America fundraising activities.
All of us at Swim Across America hope and pray this email finds you well, safe, and healthy in this most extraordinarily challenging year. Warm thanks for all your support over the years.
Given these extraordinary circumstances, SAA Nassau/Suffolk has made the difficult decision to cancel our 2020 Open Water Sound-to-Cove event and our various public and private pool swims on Long Island this year, to be replaced by an "SAA PERSONAL Challenge" Program. We felt it was more prudent to explore SAFE alternatives to help support our beneficiaries, and the important cancer research and treatment priorities they drive.
For my "Personal Challenge"I may have gotten a little creative and over my skis on this one, but we will see. My personal challenge is "2020 in 20". I commit to completing 2,020 miles of combined exercise, be it cycyling, swimming, running, kayaking, paddleboarding, or hiking in 20 weeks. I hope i can also lose 20 lbs and work off the Quarantine Fifteen! Please join my team if you like, or if you feel inspired to support by donating, that would be great too.
During these uncertain times, one thing we know for sure is that cancer doesn’t take a break, and neither does SAA or the hard work of our beneficiaries. While we may not be able to swim together at a large SAA Open Water or Pool event, our participants can commit to a Personal Challenge to help support our beneficiaries.
Because of you, our Swim Across America on Long Island has raised over $10 million during the past 19 years to support our world-class beneficiaries. As a result, patients and families will continue to receive hope in the form of new cures and treatments. Most recently, our 2019 SAA Long Island charity swims granted $516,000 to fund cancer research, clinical trials and patient support at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, the Feinstein Institute at Northwell Health, MD Anderson Children's Cancer Hospital, and SHARE Cancer Support..

In 2019 I swam in memory of my brilliant, vibrant, and beautiful cousin Angela Marcantonio who lived her life to the fullest until losing her six year battle with cancer on November 13, 2018. Accomplished author, professor, wife, mother... Angela reconnected me with my extended Italian family and ancestry. We will miss you and never forget the many fond memories of family vacations in Sperlonga.
Please donate what you can via PayPal (preferred method) or credit card donation here. We are thankful for Matching Gifts from your employers too!
All of us at Swim Across America thank you for your generosity.
