This year I will be swimming a 5k in the Long Island Sound to raise money to fight cancer. In our lifetime, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer. I joined the SAA community so that, together, we can change that. I am challenging myself by swimming in the Sound to Cove Open Water Swim and raising as much money to fight cancer as I can. Please support me by sponsoring my swim and making a gift. The money you give will go towards cancer research, prevention and treatment and will make an impact in the fight to find a cure.
The swim this summer is especially meaningful to me because of the very personal affect cancer has had on my family and friends this past year. Recently, my grandmother Rose lost her long fought battle with both lung and breast cancer and I will be swimming to honor her memory.
My Nonna, Franca, kicked breast cancer's ass 15 years ago. Unfortunately, my Nonna was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer. I'll complete my swim this year with as much fight as I know my Nonna with have in the coming months.
Finally, I'll also be swimming this year to celebrate my best friend's mother, who is now a courageous survivor of breast cancer as she won her battle this past year.
Any donation towards my goal of $1,000 means to world to me and may help lead to a cancer-free world!
