In our lifetime, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer. Dave and I joined the Swim Across America (SAA) / Making Waves to Fight Cancer community in 2001 to help reverse that. This year marks a special commemoration year for two members of Team Heal The World. We celebrate the tenth anniversary of teammate Dave’s conquering of prostate cancer, and observe the tenth anniversary of the passing of Gary’s beloved older sister Judy to pancreatic cancer. Last year, Team Heal The World was joined by our friend Parag from Gujurat, India, and we trekked up to 18,000’ to Mt. Everest Base Camp as our fundraiser for Making Waves To Fight Cancer – our SAA climbs have also included Kilimanjaro, Aconcagua, the first Pikes Peak Summit and a prior attempt at Mt. Elbrus … This year, we are fanning out over the globe to conquer more peaks to fight cancer! Dave takes on Mt. Elbrus in Russia, and Gary and team of Kevin Shine, Bruce Fox and Gary Krellenstein take on Pikes Peak - America’s Mountain -- in Manitou Springs Colorado -- in collaboration with the Denver SAA Swim Event. Thank you for your donation to fight cancer -- follow your heart and reach deeply -- so that we can fund the research and treatment to fight and treat this disease in its many destructive manifestations. May God Bless you and keep you and yours whom you hold dear in health love and joy. The money you give will go towards cancer research, prevention and treatment and will make an impact in the fight to find a cure. MSK, MD Anderson Children's Cancer Hospital, Feinstein Institute at Northwell, and Cold Spring Harbor Lab.Great progress has been made and is continuing in the fight against cancer. Many outcomes are improving. But so much more remains to be done! Being at the base of the world's highest spots symbolizes the unfinished teamwork which remains, and the searing pain and arduous climb ahead - even though the summit is in sight! Your gift will benefit and advance this fight against cancer worldwide. Thank you for your spirit, thank you for being with us on our climbs, and for your generousity of heart -- and may it lead to a cancer-free world!
