Cancer continues to affect so many of us. 50% of us will get some form of this disease. What a terrible statistic. Team Imagine a World Without Cancer was in memory of one of those 50% who was not lucky enough.

In 2008, after completing over 30 rounds of radiation and several rounds of chemo, Ken Peters, a husband, a dad, a lifeguard, an educator, and one of the nicest people on the planet, had beaten cancer. He was lucky.  He joined the Swim Across America team on Long Island, swimming the 5k, raising awareness and money for research. Unfortunately, Ken’s luck ran out and the cancer returned, more virulent than before.  Ken died February 12, 2022. Last year his family and friends swam in his memory at the Swim Across America Glen Cove event. It was a blustery day and the water was rough but we all finished and now we plan to do it again. We are determined to keep going and to keep raising money to find treatments and cures for this deadly disease.  

  IMAGINE A WORLD WITHOUT CANCER. A world without cancer is the ultimate goal. We swim for Ken and for all our friends and family who might be battling this disease. 

Ken used to say, “Together we can beat this disease!” 50% of us will be diagnosed with cancer. 100% of us need to do something to end that statistic. Join our team!  You don’t have to swim (but let’s face it, if Trish can do it so can you), you can be a volunteer at the event or lend your support in our fundraising efforts. If you are able, please support us by making a gift. The researchers we are funding are in our community and are the next generation of cancer pioneers. Without Swim Across America’s early stage funding, they are not able to conduct trials that can lead to breakthroughs that can save lives.
