If you’ve seen my keychain, bumper sticker, or t-shirts, you have probably guessed that Swim Across America is a charity close to my heart.

Swim Across America has hosted charity swims with one goal: to raise money for innovative cancer research that would lead to breakthrough treatments and therapies. Since 1987, they have raised over $100M to fund the next generation of pioneers in oncology and cancer-support care.

Last year Maddy lost their grandmother (Barbara Weirup) to uterine cancer, and their grandfather (Jim Williams) is currently battling Stage 4 stomach cancer.

Maddy and I will be swallowing salt water at Wheeler Beach in Rhode Island for a mile in their honor.
