My name is Tracy Novick, mother of four children, married for 27 years, and a nurse.
Since 2011 I have done the September event with Swim Across America. As a school nurse, I swam with a team that included familes of children who survived cancer.
This year I swim for others but also myself. I was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in February of 2019.
The good news is they found it early, the bad news is it is a bad cancer. i have had surgery and am doing
chemotherapy now and doing the swim. So I swim to make waves to stop cancer.
Here are some stats:
In our lifetime, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer. I joined the SAA community so that, together, we can change that. I am challenging myself by swimming in the San Francisco Bay Open Water Swim and raising as much money to fight cancer as I can. Please support me by sponsoring my swim and making a gift. The money you give will go towards cancer research, prevention and treatment and will make an imnpact in the fight to find a cure. Thank you for your generosity and may it lead to a cancer-free world!
You can make a credit card donation here, or send a check to Swim Across America, c/o Anthony DuComb, 1684 8th Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94122.
Check should be made out to Swim Across America but please include a note mentioning my name as the swimmer you are supporting!
