My oldest son, Seth, was diagnosed with a rare cancer, rhabdomyosarcoma, on November 16, 2016 at the age of three.   

Before then, he was a regular child with no medical problems.  His cancer was the result of a random mutation that could happen to any child. He has now completed a year of chemotherapy and six weeks of radiation and is in remission (and back at school).  We hope he stays cancer free.  

Approximately 15,000 children will be diagnosed with cancer this year.  Cancer is the leading cause of non-accidental death in children and only 4% of US federal cancer research money is directed to childhood cancer research.

I joined the Swim Across America community so that, together, we can help fund childhood cancer research.  Please support me by sponsoring my swim in the San Francisco Bay on September 19th.  

Seth was treated at the University of California San Francisco children's hospital (UCSF).  Your donation supports a survivors program at UCSF to study the long-term health effects on children like Seth who have undergone radiation and intensive chemotherapy.
