Sister Swim in Honor of our Dad - Swim Coach & Ohio Swim Official "Dr. J"
My sister and I swim to honor the life and memory of our dad who passed away last February from the effects of a catastrophic stroke. Dr. J was an advocate, supporter, volunteer and passionate participant in the swimming community – first as a super fan and cheerleader, then as the sponsor and coach of our first Huron High School Swim Team, and finally as an Ohio state swim official.
I also swim to raise awareness and money to support those currently fighting cancer, and to honor cancer survivors – like our dad and my Aunt Alice – and also those who fought bravely and lost the battle – Pam, Kitty, Sandra... too many others.
In our lifetime, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer. I joined the Swim Across America community so that, together, we can change that.
If you are able, please support me by making a gift. The researchers we are funding are in our community and are the next generation of cancer pioneers. Without Swim Across America early stage funding, they are not able to conduct trials that can lead to breakthroughs that can save lives. Thank you for helping make an impact in the fight to find a cure!
