My name is Jay Ng and I am the Team Captain for Team Peak. Our goal is to raise $2,500 as a group and anything above that would exceptional. The inspiration behind the team name is I want to get as many people from my swim team (Peak Swimming) to join me to make waves against cancer, but the donations don't have to be limited from my swim team. If you know anybody that is willing to donate, please let them know. Together, we can help raise money to support researchers ongoing quest to find a cure.
Cancer has affected me very personally. When I was little kid, my mother was diagnosed with cancer. I didn't know much about what was going on around me, but I knew it was very serious. Luckily, with the help of wonderful doctors she is now in remission and living a happy and safe life. Along with my mother, my grandfather was also diagnosed with cancer. At the time of his diagnosis, I was just finishing middle school and entering my first year of high school. My grandpa fought hard for an entire year, until he lost his battle with lung cancer in December of 2018. It was devastating to lose him, but to know that he wasn't in pain and in a better place, gave me reassurance. Each year, I dedicate the money raised to my grandfather, as I hope no person will ever have to go through such pain!
