2023 San Francisco Bay Open Water Swim

Kara Parsons
Kara Parsons

Team Kara

This year, we are again swimming in memory of - and to honor - Kara Parsons. Kara was one of Swim Across America's top fundraisers for several years, but sadly passed away in May of 2019 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. I, her husband John, and a group of her dear friends are carrying forward her legacy of volunteerism and spirit of giving. Please donate whatever you can; every gift, large or small, is deeply appreciated. We wish that Kara was here to swim with us, but we will be carrying her memory with us as we move through the bay waters.

Thank you.

John Parsons,

In our lifetime, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer. We joined the SAA community so that, together, we can change that. We are challenging ourselves by swimming in the San Francisco Bay Open Water Swim and raising as much money to fight cancer as we can. Please support us by sponsoring our swim and making a gift. The money you give will go towards cancer research, prevention and treatment and will make an impact in the fight to find a cure.  Thank you for your generosity and may it lead to a cancer-free world!

You can make a credit card donation by clicking on one of the members of our team below, or send a check to
Swim Across America, c/o Anthony DuComb, 1684 8th Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94122.

Check should be made out to Swim Across America but please include a note mentioning our team or the swimmer you are supporting!
