TEAM TAYLOR 2024!
Hello Family, Friends and Fellow Dog Lovers,
Thank you for loving Taylor and caring about our family cause- to cure cancer!
Our beloved Sister, Mother, Grand’Mom’ and Aunt- TAYLOR WALZ lost her fight with Metastatic Cholangiocarcinoma on August 20th, 2024 here in Bellevue, Wa, surrounded by her family. Diagnosed in late April, and enduring 4 chemo treatments to hopefully halt the aggressive march of her cancer and have a few more afternoon on her beautiful deck garden with her pups.
A few things about Taylor; She could light up a room with her vivacious presence, had legendary fashion sense often accentuated by a signature hat and matching accessories and never missed an opportunity to dress up in SEAHAWKS fan gear on game day or organize her colleagues in going all out for halloween costumes! She was particularly dedicated to animal rescue and fostered, trained, and volunteered at PUP dog adoption events around Puget Sound.
Taylor delighted in becoming a Grand’Mom’ this year and played a profoundly significant role as Aunt and confident. Aunt Taylor dutifully joined us for many ballet recitals, family events and too many swim meets across Puget Sound with Grandparents in tow.
Our daughter Katie Walz has taken part in Swim Across America(SAA)-Seattle Charity events for many years with her swim club- Olympic Cascade Aquatics(OCA). What we love about SAA is they have one goal: to raise money for innovative cancer research that would lead to breakthrough treatments and therapies. SAA provides angel funding for LOCAL cancer research. We have proof that this works. Swim Across America’s funding early stage grants have played a major role in clinically developing FDA-approved immunotherapy treatments like Durvalumab (IMFINZI), Nivolumab (OPDIVO), Pembrolizumab (KEYTRUDA), Atezolizumab (TECENTRIQ), (IMJUDO) & Ipipmumab (YERVOY). Swim Across America does this by hosting charity swim events across the country and since 2009, they have raised over 5 million dollars for Fred Hutch Cancer Center.
We want to be a part of the change to help give families more Time and Hope. We are volunteering on behalf of my Sister-in-Law Taylor, my in-Law’s Skip & Liz, Brother Michael, Uncle Gordon Sherman and our beloved Coach John Walker-OCA. And for so many of our amazing friends who we have lost to cancer & we miss each and everyday.
Please join us in our mission, to support vital research Saturday, 9.07.2024 at Lake Sammamish Park, and you don’t have to swim to make an impact. You can join this team as a volunteer, sharing our message. You can make a donation by clicking on the DONATE NOW button at the top of the page.
Thank you,
Skip, Kay Lynn & Katie Walz
