Jeff Birt Memorial Team

Hi,
We are Seattle Firefighters who are swimming for our friend and collegue Jeff Birt who died of Cancer in 2011.

Jeffrey Allen Birt (age 36) was born in Seattle, WA on August 27, 1974. He died on May 6, 2011, at his home surrounded by family. Jeff graduated from Shorewood High School (Shoreline, WA) in 1992 & attended Northwest University (Kirkland, WA). Jeff joined the Seattle Fire Department at the age of 19 in April of 1994; he spent most of his career as the Tillerman on Ladder 4 in Belltown. Jeff was actively involved at his church, Westgate Chapel. His greatest joy was in spending time with his wife & children. Jeff loved going to the ocean, Lake Chelan, golfing, & joining his father target shooting & clamming. Jeff was always providing a good laugh & loved an intellectual conversation. Jeff was a strong, deeply compassionate man who genuinely cared for all people. He is greatly missed by his family & friends. We love you Jeff!

In our lifetime, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer. We joined the SAA community so that, together, we can change that. We are challenging ourselves by swimming in the Seattle Open Water Swim and raising as much money to fight cancer as we can. Please support us by sponsoring our swim and making a gift. The money you give will go towards cancer research, prevention and treatment and will make an impact in the fight to find a cure. Thank you for your generosity and may it lead to a cancer-free world!
