Team Shelly returns to raise money for cancer research with Swim Across America.
Shelly Baker Butler was diagnosed with Stage IV Colon Cancer in late 2009. She was thirty six years old and the mother of two young children, Betty and Rhodes, ages 3 and 1.5 at the time of her diagnosis. She battled this terrible disease for 4 years and died in late 2013. During her 39 years, she lived with an incredible sense of humor, joy of life and lightness that we all carry with us today.
We swim for Shelly and for all of us have been effected by cancer in their lives. Please see and support all of our individual teammates to read more about their stories and purpose for joining our team with Swim Across America.
Our goal is to raise $20,000 with this swim. Your contribution helps fund initial research on cancer treatments that have and will continue to lead to larger scale research grants and real breakthroughs. Swim Across America has raised over $100MM since it began, and is making a real difference in the fight against cancer.
