Even in these uncertain times, we can continue making waves to fight cancer. As we navigate COVID-19, we've created a special webpage for event updates, helpful information and ways you can continue to support the mission of Swim Across America.
The 2020 SAA - St. Louis benefit swim is hosted by Innsbrook Resort and the swim will take place in Alpine Lake, the largest of Innsbrook’s 100-plus lakes. Participants of all ages and skill levels are invited to choose their open-water distance: 1/2 mile, 1.2 mile, or a 2.4 mile. We also offer opportunities to volunteer as a boater, kayaker or land volunteer. This event is not a competition, but a fun and inspiring fundraising event for everyone. Proceeds from the swim will stay local and support Siteman Cancer Center. 2019’s event attracted almost 500 swimmers and hundreds of spectators and volunteers, and raised almost $200,000. If you have any event questions or sponsorship opportunities, please contact Kathy. All requests about marketing or social media can be sent to Bill. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact our volunteer coordinator, Denise, for more information on available volunteer positions.
All swimmers are required to raise at least $300 by event day. Swimmers under 18 are required to raise $100 by event day.
WaveMakers are elite SAA fundraisers and go above and beyond the call of duty by pledging to raise at least $1,000 regardless of your age. Last year we had over 50 Wavemakers, from the ages of 9 to 75. You can sign up for any of the 3 distances. WaveMakers get an exclusive WaveMaker gift and access to the WaveMaker tent on event day and will have access to other perks and swag.
A person may elect to swim alone, or be part of a team. Many colleagues and college alumni will form teams, or teams may be formed in honor or memory of a loved one. All teams are inspirational and rewarding for everyone involved with Swim Across America. Teams must have a minimum of 3 swimmers and each swimmer is still required to meet the individual fundraising minimum of $300 ($100 if under 18).
Swimmers will be asked to kickstart your fundraising and let your supporters know you are personally committed to the mission of SAA. The registration self-donation is a 100% tax deductible donation that will be will be credited towards each swimmer's fundraising minimum. The minimum self-donation amount will change as follows:
**For the remainder of the 2020 event season minimum self-donations will remain at $50 until event day.

Swim Across America - St. Louis is held at Innsbrook Resort, which includes 7,500 acres of recreational and residential properties, an event center, a restaurant, a recreational commons, two restaurants and an 18-hole public golf course. The site of the SAA event will be on Alpine Lake, the largest of Innsbrook’s 100 lakes.
There will be 1/2 mile, 1.2 mile, and 2.4 mile distance options for the swim in 2018.
Swim Across America makes participant safety the most important component of all our events. All swimmers will be asked to follow specific safety procedures and policies to participate, as well as comply with SAA safety personnel, including local and government entities, Lifeguards, and water safety volunteers. Participants are responsible for adequately preparing for their registered event. We ask that all participants review the information packet provided in advance of event day, as well as attend the day-of safety briefing for important safety information.
As we had last year, there will be a number of “Angel Swimmers” available at the event to accompany less experienced swimmers on their swim.
All swimmers and volunteers must complete the waiver found here.
If you have questions about our policies regarding inclement weather, swim equipment or wetsuits, please consult our Policies page.
