My cancer story has been long but successful (so far). My oncologist recently called me a "walking miracle," and my recovery is due to the many advancements in cancer treatment that were possible from cutting edge research. Swim Across America St. Louis funds similar cutting edge research at the Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis.

More than 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Chances are you or a family member have already been affected by cancer. Unfortunately, I know too many who have been affected by cancer. My father died from cancer, I have several close friends dealing with cancer, and I have been treated for three different cancers over the past five years. ​
