Welcome to My Personal Page
In our lifetime, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer. I joined the Swim Across America community so that, together, we can change that.
On August 28th we will swim a mile in open water to raise money for cancer research. I am swimming in honor of Haily and Michelle's friend, Grace Bunke, taken way too young by osteosarcoma, an aggressive bone cancer. Her mom, Vicki Bunke will participate in 14 events this year! We are excited to join her.
Grace battled cancer all through middle school and freshman year of high school, having a partial leg amputation, meanwhile taking up swimming and making the high school team and the US Paralympic Team, going to Bar Mitzvah's with the girls and getting her ears pierced, becoming a public speaker and getting her learners permit, becoming a community inspiration while staying a silly sister to Caroline. Somehow she could just do it all with grace.
I can't help smiling when I remember her at a church retreat in 7th grade saying, "Ms. Harris hold my leg." as she handed me her prosthetic leg, all of the girls giggling their way to zipline into a cold lake in February.
If you are able, please support me by making a gift. The researchers we are funding are in our community and are the next generation of cancer pioneers. Without Swim Across America early stage funding, they are not able to conduct trials that can lead to breakthroughs that can save lives. Thank you for helping make an impact in the fight to find a cure!
