As many of you know, Bill and I have been a part of Swim Across America St. Louis for five years now. We became involved because we had seen so many people in our lives affected by Cancer. Then in 2017, this horrible disease touched our family when Bill was diagnosed with Stage 3B Melanoma. After his surgery, he was given a 'watch and wait' order. Luckily the 'wait' was not long and in 4 months, Bill was started on an immunotherapy regimen which, ironically, was developed
after crucial funding from Swim Across America. That's right - he became a recipent of the lifesaving funding that has touched so many lives! How incredibly fortunate and grateful we are for Swim Across America.
In our lifetime, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer. I joined the Swim Across America community so that, together, we can change that. I am so excited about this years' event because, I can particiapte. I am not a distance swimmer but this years' Coast to Coast Challenge allows me to dance, walk, play volleball, or volunteer my way across America and raise money for Siteman Cancer Center, the same place where Bill received his lifesaving treatment and where vital cancer research is taking place as we speak.
I would be so thankful if you could support me by making a gift. The researchers we are funding are in our community and are the next generation of cancer pioneers. Without Swim Across America early stage funding, they are not able to conduct trials that can lead to breakthroughs that can save lives. Thank you for helping make an impact in the fight to find a cure! Cancer is not taking a break this year and neither are we!
