Three months ago, our very close family friend Scarlett -- a sweet, beautiful, funny 8-year-old with an impish grin and devilish charm -- succumbed to a malignant brain tumor. Medical science couldn't save her. Fortunately, my husband Dan's experience has been the opposite. He was diagnosed in 2014 with metastatic melanoma, a death sentence several years ago. With the momentous breakthrough in cancer treatment known as immunotherapy, he has been cancer-free for nearly two years. His doctors at Memorial Sloan-Kettering believe that his future is bright. What's even more incredible: the money you've been donating to our swims over the past decade directly funded Sloan's immunotherapy research, quite possibly saving Dan's life. Words cannot express our gratitude.
We're so devastated that we couldn't do more to help Scarlett. Working together, let's try to save others.
With love and thanks,
