This is the 11th year for our SAA event at Lakeside Field Club. The goal is to raise money, the goal is to find a cure, and if we have fun, well that’s OK too. This year we swim for Pat Heffernan. He is a local, a former Lakeside member, a darn good friend and as it turns out, one tough mother. Pat was diagnosed with some wicked bad cancer last fall. He has undergone chemo, radiation, immunotherapy and very invasive surgery. Pat continues his immunotherapy, is kicking ass, gaining weight, and has most of his original shock of hair. His immunotherapy was originally discovered by the Swim Acoross America Lab at Sloan Kettering. Pat is going to win his fight and the researchers we are supporting are going to help. Cancer sucks. Pat Rocks. We don't need to see anymore friends and family members suffer this fate. Thank God for my Dad, Jay Kennedy, may he Rest In Peace knowing he is not forgotten and we will do what we can to get rid of cancer once and for all.
Please consider making a donation to support our efforts and better yet- JOIN OUR TEAM and swim with us on July 21st at Lakeside 5-8pm celebratory BBQ to follow.
In our lifetime, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer. We joined the SAA community so that, together, we can change that. We are challenging ourselves by swimming and raising as much money to fight cancer as we can. Please support us by sponsoring our swim and making a gift. The money you give will go towards cancer research, prevention and treatment and will make an impact in the fight to find a cure. Thank you for your generosity and may it lead to a cancer-free world!
