What is Swim Across America?
Swim Across America hosts charity swims that fund cancer research and patient programs. Since 1987 they have raised over $100M for the fight against cancer. While SAA hosts swims all over the country, the Nassau Suffolk chapter benefits local organizations that provide research and treatment right here in our area! Find out more about the Nassau Suffolk Beneficiaries here.
LIAC has had a relationship with Swim Across America here on Long Island since the inception of the Nassau Suffolk Chapter in the early 2000’s. Over the years we have raised thousands of dollars for SAA beneficiaries, and we are excited to participate with a swim again this year!
Make Waves With Us!
Each week in October our swimmers will partake in a specific challenge dedicated to the fight against cancer during their practice time. Swimmers will be asked to swim harder, faster, or further than before. Your child's coach will communicate their specific challenge for each week to the group. This special challenge during their practice time will get to the core of the Swim Across America mission - raising funds and awareness for cancer research, prevention and treatment through high energy, community-driven and memorable pool swims. Our goal is to come together as a community, doing what we do best: SWIMMING!
Our goal as a team is to raise $10,000 in the month of October. We hope you will help us as LIAC joins the fight against cancer this October with Swim Across America!
