Join the Palenica residents and the Cyclones swim team as they Fight Cancer with Swim Across America. Everyone's life has been impacted by cancer which is why we're swimming to help "Make Waves to Fight Cancer" and raise money for cancer research, prevention and treatment.

ABOUT THE EVENT

WHAT: I am organizing this Swim Across America event in the hope that we will soon find cures for all the types of cancers that affect humans and animals.

I doubt there are any families who have not been impacted in one way or another from this dreadful disease. We have one teenage girl who lives in our Palencia community who is very bravely battling brain cancer. We are teaming up with Swim Across America so that together, we can make a difference.

Our pool swim will incude: A SWIM WORKOUT written by an Olympian for the Cyclones and for members of the Palencia community who want an extra challenge (45min-hour)

OPEN LAP SWIM for Palencia swimmers (30 minutes)

FUN RELAYS (30 minutes) for everyone!

WHEN: Saturday, August 24th

Rain Date: Sunday, August 25th

SCHEDULE:

Volunteer check in 7:45 AM

Swimmer check in 8:15-9:00 AM

Welcome, SAA impact and group photo 9:00 AM

All swimmers and volunteers must complete the waiver found here and bring to the event check-in. If you are under 18, please bring the waiver signed by a parent or guardian.

FUNDRAISING: We encourage swimmers to each raise at least $100. Many will raise more but if everyone raises $100, our swim could raise thousands to support cancer research, prevention and treatment.

FUNDRAISING INCENTIVES: Every swimmer who participates will receive a Swim Across America cap and tattoos! Raise the amounts below and receive great SAA items for your efforts!

  • $50 - SAA T-Shirt.
  • $100 - SAA Sunglasses + $50 fundraising incentive.
  • $300 - SAA Towel + $100 fundraising incentives.
  • $1,000 - If you raise $1,000 you are acknowledged as a WaveMaker and receive WaveMaker benefits.

Individual WaveMaker Status: $1,000 fundraising minimum:

WaveMakers go above and beyond by raising at least $1,000 for SAA. Anyone can achieve WaveMaker status - swimmers, volunteers or SAA My Way participants. WaveMakers get special recognition and an exclusive WaveMaker gift. You can learn more about WaveMaker Status here.
